Lao President Affirms Friendship and Backs Ambitious Infrastructure Initiative
In a show of solidarity and support, Lao President Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith has pledged full backing for Cambodia's ambitious Funan Techo Canal Project during high-level meetings with Cambodian leaders. The project, aimed at creating a direct sea route for Cambodia, received resounding affirmation from President Sisoulith, emphasizing the enduring friendship between the two nations.

During discussions with Senate President Hun Sen, President Sisoulith expressed Laos' support for the canal initiative, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance Cambodia's transport and investment sectors. He assured that the project would prioritize environmental sustainability, ensuring no adverse impact on the region's ecology.

Mr. Sisoulith also commended Cambodia's development progress, reaffirming Laos' commitment to providing adequate electricity supplies to support Cambodia's growing needs, particularly in the energy sector.

Meetings with other Cambodian leaders, including Khuon Sodary, President of the National Assembly, and Prime Minister Hun Manet, emphasized the deep historical bonds and mutual benefits between the two countries. Both sides expressed optimism about the future of the partnership, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

The warm reception of President Sisoulith's visit, highlighted by cultural gestures such as a welcoming song by Prime Minister Hun Manet, signifies the depth of friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Laos.
