New Maritime Route to Link Trat Islands with Cambodia and Vietnam
Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam are working together to create a maritime route connecting Trat province's islands with Sihanoukville in Cambodia and Kiên Giang in Vietnam. This project aims to boost trade, investment, tourism, and the Mice industry. The route is set to open during this year’s high season in November.
Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam are collaborating to establish a maritime route linking Trat province's islands with Cambodia’s Sihanoukville and Vietnam’s Kiên Giang.
The initiative, discussed at the CVTEC-Trat Business Roadshow 2024, aims to enhance trade, investment, tourism, and the Mice (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry.
Key attendees included Trat governor Natthapong Sanguanjit, deputy governors from six provinces, Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) president Chamnan Srisawat, and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) senior vice president Puripan Bunnag.
The route is envisioned as both an economic and charming tourism corridor, dubbed “One Market, Three Destinations.” An MoU between private and public sectors has been signed to expedite the project, which will enable travel from Pattaya to Laem Chabang, then to Trat, Sihanoukville, and Kiên Giang.
The maritime tourism route is projected to open in November.
