Thailand's Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a warning for heavy rain across upper Thailand, with expectations of widespread thundershowers, particularly in mountainous regions and low-lying areas. The forecast is influenced by a moderate southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, and much of the region.
Authorities have advised residents in upper Thailand to remain vigilant regarding potential heavy rainfall and the associated risk of flash flooding, especially in foothill areas and near waterways. The TMD also urged farmers to take precautionary measures to protect their crops from the adverse weather conditions.
In addition, the TMD reported moderate wind and waves in the upper Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand, with wave heights ranging from 1 to 2 metres, increasing in thundershower areas. All maritime activities are advised to exercise caution and avoid operating under hazardous conditions.
