Siam Cement Group Suspends Operations at Vietnam Petrochemical Complex
Operational halt due to low margins after one month
Siam Cement Group, Thailand's largest conglomerate, has halted operations at its $5.4 billion Long Son Petrochemicals complex located in the southern Vietnamese province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
The facility, which began operations on September 30, has been affected by low chemical margins.
The suspension, announced on November 4, 2024, is attributed to the industry-wide challenge of high inventory and destocking, which has impacted several companies.
Resumption of operations will depend on global demand dynamics.
