SRT to organise historic Bangkok-Ayutthaya train trip on March 26
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will run a special steam train from Bangkok to Ayutthaya to celebrate its 127th anniversary on March 26.
Governor Ekarat Sriarayanphong stated the event honors the route's inauguration by King Rama V in 1896. The journey features vintage Pacific-class steam engines from 1949 and 1950.
Departing from Hua Lamphong at 8:10 am, arriving in Ayutthaya by 10:20 am, passengers will have six hours to explore before returning to Bangkok at 6:50 pm. Stops include Samsen, Bang Sue, Don Mueang, and Rangsit stations.
Tickets are 329 baht for third-class, 529 baht for second-class air-conditioned, and 799 baht for sleepers and special cars, with refreshments available. Reservations can be made at SRT stations or through the D-Ticket app and website (www.dticket.railway.co.th).
