Suchata 'Opal' Chuangsri Crowned Miss World 2025 in Hyderabad
Opal Chuangsri makes history as Thailand's first Miss World at the 72nd edition of the global pageant.
Suchata "Opal" Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 at the 72nd Miss World pageant held in Hyderabad, India, on June 1, 2025.
The event featured 108 contestants from various countries, with Opal emerging as the winner, marking her as Thailand's first recipient of the Miss World title.
The 22-year-old political science student is also the founder of the "Opal for Her" initiative, which aims to raise awareness and support for women affected by breast cancer.
In her acceptance speech, Opal expressed her commitment to using her platform to advocate for change and empower young women.
She stated, "This moment is not just a personal victory; it is a shared dream of every young girl who wants to be seen, heard and to create change.
I am honoured to represent this legacy and use my time as Miss World to make a real difference."
Julia Morley, chairwoman of the Miss World Organisation, emphasized Opal's purpose and potential: "Opal has shown us that she is more than a winner — she is a woman of purpose, with a voice the world is ready to hear."
Opal Chuangsri stands at 180 centimeters tall and hails from Phuket, Thailand, where her family runs a business in the old town area.
She is currently studying international relations at Thammasat University and is multilingual, fluent in Chinese, English, and Thai.
The pageant featured a structured elimination process, with contestants divided into four continental regions: Africa, the Americas & Caribbean, Asia & Oceania, and Europe.
Following Opal, the first runner-up was Hasset Dereje from Ethiopia, with Maja Klajda from Poland and Aurélie Joachim from Martinique taking the second and third runner-up positions, respectively.
