Royal Thai Police Develop Influencers to Raise Awareness of Cyber Threats
The Royal Thai Police (RTP), led by national police chief Kittharath Punpetch, are creating their own influencers to improve public communication and crime prevention.
This initiative aims to change public perception of the police, encouraging crime victims to report issues directly instead of seeking help elsewhere.
This strategy is part of a broader campaign called Cyber Booster, launched in partnership with the Thai Media Fund, Online News Producers Association, and Thai PBS, to enhance public immunity against cyber threats.
The project features police officers such as Pol Maj Gen Teeradej Thumsutee, Pol Maj Pakrit Krittayapong, and Pol Lt Kansini Sitthichotpong, who use their expertise to inform the public about online scams and security threats.
Pol Lt Kansini, a media liaison officer, known as 'Lt Panda,' emphasizes educating the public to prevent online scams without focusing on boosting the police's image.
The initiative includes producing 17 video clips with officers as online idols to highlight these dangers and promote resilience against cybercrime.
