The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) marked 50 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China with the “Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Night 2025” gala at One Bangkok on October 7. The event formed the centrepiece of the nationwide “Nihao Month” campaign, aimed at celebrating cultural friendship and strengthening tourism cooperation between the two nations.
Held during China’s Golden Week and the Mid-Autumn Festival, the gala brought together 100 Chinese guests, including top Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), content creators, and winners of the “Thailand, Told by You” challenge, alongside Thai officials, diplomats, and celebrities. Distinguished attendees included Tourism and Sports Minister Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Chinese Embassy Counsellor Yang Xiao Long, Permanent Secretary Natreeya Taweewong, and TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool. Their presence highlighted the importance of people-to-people diplomacy in maintaining one of Asia’s strongest bilateral partnerships.
The celebration featured a mooncake-making ceremony led by Thai and Chinese dignitaries, symbolising unity and good fortune. Thai artists and celebrities such as Billkin Putthipong Assaratanakul and Pong Nawat Kulrattanarak performed Thai and Chinese songs and participated in a cultural dialogue on tourism cooperation. Minister Atthakorn described the occasion as a reflection of “enduring friendship and family-like ties” between the two countries, citing the popular phrase Zhong Tai Yi Jia Qin — “China and Thailand are one family.”
TAT Governor Thapanee emphasised that Nihao Month represents Thailand’s commitment to China as a vital tourism market. “Through creative marketing and cross-cultural collaboration, we aim to turn awareness into real travel,” she said. The campaign includes special promotions with major Chinese digital platforms such as Meituan, Ctrip, Alipay, and WeChat, as well as a Chinese Passport Privilege programme offering discounts and privileges at leading Thai retailers and attractions through December 2025.
From January to September 2025, Thailand welcomed over 3.4 million visitors from China. With Nihao Month now underway, tourism authorities expect arrivals to accelerate in the final quarter of the year, reinforcing Thailand’s position as a preferred destination for Chinese travellers and celebrating five decades of friendship founded on culture, trust, and shared prosperity.
