ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Economic Committee Discusses Key Resolutions for Economic Growth
Eight draft resolutions covering digital security, responsible investment, and infrastructure development were reviewed by ASEAN parliament members in Vientiane.
The ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly Economic Committee convened in Vientiane on October 20, 2024, chaired by Mr. Liber Libuapao, Chairman of the Planning, Finance, and Audit Committee of the Lao National Assembly. Representatives from ASEAN member countries discussed eight key draft resolutions aimed at boosting economic growth and regional cooperation.
The resolutions focused on crucial areas such as enhancing digital security to build a robust digital economy, promoting responsible investment in agriculture and forestry, and improving regional infrastructure through fundraising efforts in line with the ASEAN Connectivity Master Plan 2025. Additional discussions included the integration of digital technology, boosting carbon trading systems, and harnessing tourism for economic recovery.
Parliament members also considered proposals to enhance transportation, aviation, and seaport connectivity, alongside the establishment of an ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Research Center to support technological advancement in the region.
