Bangchak, Bosch, and Dow Champion Sustainability in Thailand's Industry
Thai firms take significant steps toward emission reductions and sustainable production.
Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited has recently been awarded Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP) certifications by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO).
This recognition, presented at a ceremony on 19 March 2025 at the Thailand Institute of Justice in Bangkok, underscores the company’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Ms. Kittima Wongsaen, Executive Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Business Development, accepted the certificate on behalf of Bangchak's subsidiary, Refinery Optimization and Synergy Enterprise Company Limited (ROSE), from Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
Bangchak's certified products, which include fuel oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), high-speed diesel, gasoline, and kerosene (jet fuel), are reported to emit 13% to 39% less greenhouse gases compared to the national average, according to assessments by Open Government Data of Thailand.
The company has maintained CFP certification from 2018 to 2022, with the new registration valid from 2023 to 2026, showcasing its ongoing leadership in low-carbon innovations and efforts to support Thailand’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
In another development, Robert Bosch Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thai Union Group Public Company Limited to enhance energy efficiency in steam and hot water systems.
This strategic partnership aims to assist Thai Union in their goal to achieve net-zero emissions from steam energy usage by 2050. Joseph Hong, Managing Director of Bosch Thailand, noted that this collaboration emphasizes a long-term commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
Thai Union's Deputy General Manager, Setakul Chotichoey, highlighted that the partnership is vital to their roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through innovative solutions and accountability.
Furthermore, Dow has achieved ISCC PLUS certification for its Propylene Glycol (PG) manufacturing facility in Map Ta Phut, Rayong, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable production in the Asia Pacific region.
Dow is set to introduce two new ISCC PLUS-certified PG products, including Propylene Glycol CIR and Propylene Glycol REN, which utilize recycled and bio-circular feedstocks, respectively.
This initiative supports various industries in achieving their sustainability goals, including personal care, food ingredients, and pharmaceuticals.
The ISCC PLUS certification is recognized globally for ensuring sustainability and traceability across supply chains.
This certification allows Dow to meet customers' demand for circular and bio-circular solutions while maintaining high quality and operational excellence at its Thailand facility, which is the largest PG plant in Asia.
The advancements at Dow are aimed at strengthening Thailand’s position as a regional hub for sustainable production.
