Bangkok Launches 20-Baht Flat Fare Scheme for Electric Train Network
Registration opens in August via the Thang Rath app, covering all electric train lines.
The registration for the 20-baht flat fare initiative on Bangkok’s electric train network is scheduled to commence in August.
The program aims to provide affordable transportation across the city.
According to Pichet Kunathammarak, the Director-General of the Department of Rail Transport, the flat fare scheme will be applicable to all operational lines, which include the Green, Gold, Yellow, Pink, Blue, and Purple lines of the electric train network.
The initiative is designed to facilitate easier access for commuters and promote the use of public transport in Bangkok.
The registration process will be managed through the Thang Rath mobile application, which is anticipated to streamline user engagement with the fare system.
The announcement follows ongoing efforts by the Thai government to enhance urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion in the capital city.
