Deported South Korean Arrested for Illegal Entry in Pattaya
Suspected Drug Trafficker Caught Without Valid Documents
A 42-year-old South Korean man, identified only as 'Hun', was arrested in Pattaya, Thailand, on October 28, 2024, for illegal entry and suspected involvement in drug trafficking.
The authorities apprehended him at an apartment on Pattaya Sai 3 Road.
Police discovered that Hun had no visa or entry stamp in his passport and admitted he had entered Thailand illegally from Cambodia through Sa Kaeo province.
Previously deported in 2017 due to crystal meth-related offenses and overstaying his visa, Hun had been blacklisted by immigration.
During his recent arrest, drug paraphernalia was found in his room, which he claimed belonged to a Thai woman who had stayed with him.
Hun tested negative for drug use.
According to Pol Maj Gen Panthana Nuchanart, deputy commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, Hun had been in Pattaya for two weeks and was suspected of sourcing drugs for smuggling to South Korea.
Police have charged Hun with illegal entry and continue their investigation.
