Heavy rains in Pattaya led to severe flash floods, submerging major roads and stranding vehicles. The floods measured over 90 centimetres, affecting key routes in the city. Resident Supachai Saeliaw and his girlfriend escaped an incident without injuries, highlighting the dangers faced by motorists.
Pattaya experienced severe flash floods after an hour of heavy rain around 4.26am, reported Nation TV. The rainfall caused surface runoff over 90 centimetres deep, inundating major roads including Khao Talo-Wat Tham Samakee Road, Pattaya Tai-Pattaya Klang Road, Chaloem Phrakiat Road, and Pattaya Beach Road.
Special affairs staff were deployed to help manage traffic, advising motorists to avoid driving small cars and motorcycles on the flooded streets.
A resident, Supachai Saeliaw, 21, recounted how his car was swept into a watercourse; he and his girlfriend had to escape through the car window and walk through more than waist-high floodwaters, fortunately sustaining no injuries.
