Innovative Gaming Initiative Promotes Agricultural Knowledge Among Thai Youth

Digital Economy Promotion Agency collaborates with agricultural organizations to use gaming as an educational tool for rice cultivation.
The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa) has announced a collaboration with the Rice Department and two companies, GetKaset Co Ltd and Juadaijuadee Co Ltd (Jua Studio), to utilize digital technology in enhancing agricultural knowledge, particularly focusing on rice farming.

This initiative is aimed at engaging young individuals and making information about rice cultivation more accessible and appealing through interactive formats.

Depa's president and chief executive, Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, highlighted the potential of games as effective tools for disseminating knowledge about proper rice cultivation techniques to entrepreneurs, young farmers, and the public.

'The collaboration with network partners in this initiative aligns with our objectives as games can effectively disseminate knowledge about proper rice cultivation processes,' he stated, emphasizing the importance of engaging the youth in the agricultural sector through innovative mediums.

Thunyathorn Junyavoraluck, chief executive of GetKaset, reiterated the organization's commitment to integrating technology with agriculture to improve the quality of life for Thai farmers through enhanced knowledge and innovation.

GetKaset aims to transform complex agricultural concepts into easily digestible information by utilizing technology alongside effective communication methods, according to Ms. Thunyathorn.

Akaphop Chantarasrivongs, director of Jua Studio, shared the studio's focus on developing board games as vehicles for delivering agricultural information through gameplay.

He noted that this method allows players of various ages to engage with agricultural education in a natural and enjoyable way.

As part of this collaborative effort, the launch of QuestKaset: RiceStory, a board game specifically designed to simulate resource management and farming strategy, has been announced.

The game emphasizes themes central to Thai rice culture, including traditional farming practices and the significance of selecting suitable rice varieties.

In addition to the board game, Jua Studio is exploring the expansion of the game's narrative and characters into other formats, such as comic books, animations, and collectible items, to further enhance engagement and education in agricultural topics.
