Obec Official Transferred Amid Teacher Placement Controversy
The Office of the Basic Education has transferred Prayong Saraphum for investigation into the removal of top-scoring candidate Benyapa Yen-udom from a teacher placement list in Sa Kaeo province. Despite initially being listed first, Ms Benyapa's name was replaced, prompting her to resign from her job in Ayutthaya. The investigation aims to clarify the situation this week.
The Office of the Basic Education (Obec) has transferred Prayong Saraphum, director of Sa Kaeo's Secondary Education Service Area Office, to its headquarters pending an investigation.
The probe concerns the removal of Benyapa Yen-udom from a list of candidates who passed an exam to become a science teacher in Sa Kaeo province despite having the highest score.
Obec aims to complete the investigation this week, according to Deputy Education Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul.
Ms Benyapa's name was replaced on a revised list despite being initially placed first, leading her to resign from her current teaching job in Ayutthaya.
Mr Prayong attributed the error to a mistake in registration numbers, claiming Ms Benyapa did not actually score in the top nine, but Ms Benyapa believes she performed well and is seeking a clear explanation.
