Phuket's Tourism Sector Records Strong First Quarter in 2025
Island welcomes 3.89 million visitors and generates 149 billion baht in revenue between January and March
Phuket's tourism industry reported a robust performance in the first quarter of 2025, with 3.89 million visitors contributing to 149 billion baht in revenue between January and March.
Daily international arrivals averaged between 17,000 and 18,000, while domestic tourists numbered approximately 8,000 to 10,000 per day.
To sustain momentum during the Green Season from April to October, tourism authorities are focusing on attracting younger Thai travellers with lifestyle-oriented events.
In early April, the "Phuket SUP Rally: Paddle in Paradise" was held at the Tha Chat Chai community, offering stand-up paddleboarding experiences through mangrove forests.
Later in April, the "Sip & Chill: Zoociety" event took place at Saphan Hin Public Park, featuring food vendors, workshops, and live music, with an expected revenue of 2 million baht, up from 1.7 million baht in 2024.
Looking ahead, the Phuket Vegetarian Festival is scheduled for October 21–29, 2025. This nine-day Taoist celebration includes spiritual rituals, processions, and a strict vegetarian diet observed by participants.
Internationally, Phuket continues to attract visitors from Russia, China, India, the UK, Germany, and the Middle East.
The Chinese market is stabilizing with more independent travellers, while the US and Kazakh markets remain strong.
During the Songkran Festival in April, Phuket reported zero fatalities despite 45 road accidents.
However, authorities addressed concerns after a rental operator allowed a 14-year-old Swiss tourist to hire a car, resulting in a fine of 2,000 baht for the operator.
