Raids Uncover Illegal Casino Operation in Pattaya, Leading to Multiple Arrests
Police apprehend twenty foreigners in a covert gambling operation at a hotel in Chon Buri.
In the late hours of Monday, police in Pattaya conducted a raid on an eight-storey hotel suspected of operating as an illegal casino, resulting in the arrest of at least 20 foreigners.
The operation targeted the Antai Holiday Hotel, located in the Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province, following reports from local authorities about clandestine gambling activities on the premises.
The raid, carried out at approximately 11:30 PM, involved undercover agents who had been monitoring the hotel after observing a consistent flow of foreign individuals entering and exiting the building at night.
Investigators found that while the first floor functioned as the hotel reception, the second floor was dedicated to gambling activities.
Police reported that various gambling-related materials, including poker cards and chips, were confiscated during the operation.
Police discovered six Chinese nationals on the top floor engaged in computer activities.
An investigation into their work revealed that they were involved in sending ransomware links—malicious software that restricts access to computer systems—to companies based in China.
Authorities seized a total of nine notebook computers and 15 mobile phones from the suspects.
The group arrested included primarily Chinese nationals, but also involved individuals from Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, and Myanmar.
Further details about the case have not been disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing, as law enforcement continues to gather evidence and process the arrests.
