Senate to Examine CCTV Evidence in Theft Case Against Senator
Senator accused of stealing from accident victim in 2021
The Senate’s ethics committee plans to review closed-circuit television footage showing a senator allegedly taking valuable items from a road-accident victim in May 2021.
Investigators have charged the senator with theft, with stolen items including two mobile phones, a Louis Vuitton bag, an 8-baht gold necklace, an amulet, and cash valued at over 2 million baht.
The CCTV footage reportedly shows two men, including the senator, removing the belongings and later returning only some of them.
The senator had attempted to invoke parliamentary immunity to delay proceedings, but the Senate will consider disciplinary action once the court case concludes.
