Severe Weather Forecasted Across Upper Thailand and Bangkok

Thunderstorms and strong winds expected as weather patterns shift in the region.

The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a forecast indicating that upper Thailand, including Bangkok, will experience continued thunderstorms and strong winds over the next 24 hours. The North, Northeast, and Central regions are particularly affected, with hot daytime temperatures accompanying these weather patterns.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant regarding thunderstorms and gusty winds. Additionally, due to fluctuating weather conditions, health precautions are recommended. The prevailing weather is attributed to easterly and southeasterly winds transporting moisture over the upper regions, where daytime heat persists.

In southern Thailand, rainfall is projected to intensify, with isolated heavy showers expected, particularly in the lower South. Residents in areas prone to flash floods and runoff, especially in foothill regions or near waterways and low-lying areas, are cautioned to monitor conditions closely. This expected rainfall is caused by interactions between the easterly and southeasterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand and the South, along with northwesterly winds affecting the lower Andaman Sea.

Wave heights in the Gulf of Thailand are anticipated to average around 1 metre but may exceed 2 metres in thunderstorm areas. Mariners navigating the Gulf and Andaman Sea are advised to exercise caution and avoid areas with adverse weather conditions.

PM2.5 Dust Levels

Current meteorological conditions may lead to increased levels of particulate matter (PM2.5) in the atmosphere. In the Northeast region, air quality currently ranges from moderate to fairly high levels, although a minor decrease is expected due to potential rainfall in certain areas.
