Mother's Day holiday projected to drive significant tourism
The Tourism Authority of Thailand's governor has announced expectations of a travel boom during the long Mother’s Day holiday from August 9 to 12, along with a special public holiday on August 11.
It is projected that 3.16 million domestic trips will be taken, generating around 13.75 billion baht in spending.
The central region is expected to attract about 898,000 trips, followed by around 609,600 in the northeast and approximately 600,500 in the north, with government travel subsidies and local festivals credited for the increase.
