TAGTHAi Easy Pay: A New E-Wallet Service for International Tourists in Thailand

TAGTHAi Easy Pay: A New E-Wallet Service for International Tourists in Thailand

The launch of TAGTHAi Easy Pay by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Kasikornbank aims to enhance payment convenience for travelers using the Thai QR Payment system.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has partnered with Kasikornbank to launch TAGTHAi Easy Pay, a pioneering e-wallet service specifically designed for international tourists.

This initiative enables visitors to utilize Thai QR Payment across the country, aiming to enhance their shopping and payment experiences while reducing the need for cash and currency exchange.

According to TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatpaiboon, TAGTHAi Easy Pay has been developed to facilitate international tourists in their transactions throughout Thailand.

The service works in conjunction with the Prepaid PAY&TOUR card issued by Kasikornbank.

The introduction of this e-wallet represents a significant step forward in aligning Thailand's tourism experience with the preferences of modern digital travelers.

This secure and convenient payment system is part of the larger initiative titled "Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025", which TAT is promoting throughout the year to stimulate international travel and enhance the overall tourism and sports sectors in Thailand.

The initiative supports the ambitious goal of generating 3 trillion baht in revenue for the tourism industry by 2025.

Glinth Srisunthorn, Honorary Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, noted that the TAGTHAi application has demonstrated remarkable growth, with over 2 million downloads by both Thai and foreign tourists in 2023, representing a 105% increase.

Sales figures have also risen by 183%, reflecting trust in the digital platform for tourism-related purchases and services.

In conjunction with the platform's growth, the TAGTHAi Easy Pay e-wallet is expected to not only improve the payment experience for foreign tourists but also distribute revenue more widely among local businesses within the tourism sector, contributing positively to the broader economy.

Kattiya Indaravichai, CEO of Kasikornbank, announced that the market for international tourists in Thailand continues to expand, with predictions from Kasikorn Research forecasting a further 5.6% increase in tourist arrivals by 2025. In response to this trend, the bank has recognized the need for a seamless and secure payment system to ensure the convenience of international visitors.

The Prepaid PAY&TOUR card, which links with the TAGTHAi Easy Pay e-wallet, allows tourists to make payments at any participating merchant in Thailand accepting Thai QR Payment.

Initial testing of the service began in 2023, with tourists able to sign up at currency exchange booths operated by Kasikornbank at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Plans are underway to expand the service to more than 100 branches nationwide to further enhance accessibility for incoming travelers.
