New Checkpoint and Extended Hours Aim to Boost Trade and Tourism
Thailand and Cambodia have inaugurated a new permanent border checkpoint at the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge in Sa Kaeo province, enhancing trade and tourism between the two countries.
In addition, the Chong Sa-ngam checkpoint in Si Sa Ket province has extended its operating hours.
The Ministry of Interior announced the changes in the Royal Gazette on October 30, 2024.
The Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge, also known as the Nong Ian-Stung Bot checkpoint, is situated in tambon Tha Kham of Aranyaprathet district, connecting with Stung Bot village in Poipet, Cambodia.
It operates daily between 6am and 10pm.
This new checkpoint aims to reduce congestion at the nearby Ban Khlong Luek checkpoint, thus facilitating cross-border goods transport and promoting border trade, according to ministry spokeswoman Traisuree Taisaranakul.
Meanwhile, the Chong Sa-ngam checkpoint in Phu Sing district, opposite Anlong Veng in Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey province, now operates from 7am to 10pm, an extension from its previous closing time of 8pm.
