Thai Fruit Sales Boosted by Chinese Influencer's Livestream Event
Popular Chinese influencer Taiyuan Lao Ge aims to surpass record sales of 1 billion baht in Thai fruits during livestream event.
The Ministry of Commerce in Thailand has announced that prominent Chinese influencer Taiyuan Lao Ge will conduct a livestream sale of Thai fruits on May 11 and 12, 2025.
Taiyuan, who boasts an audience of 93 million followers on the social media platform Kuaishou, will feature a variety of Thai fruits, including durian, mango, longan, and mangosteen.
This event will take place as part of the "Siam Paragon Tropical Fruit Paradise 2025," running from April 25 to May 5 at the Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok.
Last year, Taiyuan achieved nearly 1 billion baht in sales of Thai durian in a single day, a record he aims to surpass this year.
Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan highlighted the importance of collaboration with Chinese influencers in promoting Thai fruit exports, especially during the peak harvest season when there is a surplus of high-quality produce.
The Thai government is working with Chinese businesses and online platforms to enhance the visibility of its agricultural products on the international market.
Minister Pichai mentioned the goal to distribute 950,000 tonnes of fruit while maintaining stable prices across the market.
Recent discussions between Minister Pichai and Wu Zhiwu, minister-counsellor at the Chinese embassy in Thailand, have focused on improving the export process for durian.
These discussions encompassed simplifying export procedures, easing inspection protocols, and expediting customs clearance.
In response, Chinese authorities have established a special Green Lane designed for faster inspections and ongoing service for efficient clearance operations.
