Registration for businesses will occur in the third quarter, with funds disbursed in the fourth quarter to around 50 million people.
The Thai government has confirmed that all eligible citizens will receive a 10,000-baht handout simultaneously under its digital wallet program, aimed at boosting domestic spending.
Deputy Finance Minister Paopoom Rojanasakul clarified that the initial report suggesting that vulnerable people would receive the money first is false.
All Thai nationals over the age of 16, with a monthly income of less than 70,000 baht and bank deposits below 500,000 baht, qualify for the scheme.
The registration for participating businesses will occur in the third quarter, with disbursements starting in the fourth quarter of the year.
The initiative will distribute the funds to approximately 50 million eligible Thais, with the objective of injecting a large sum of cash into the economy for short-term economic stimulation.
