Thai Land Officials and Business Figures Released on Bail After Corruption Sentences
Six individuals, including former Thai land officials and prominent figures from Thai Nox Stainless Public Company Limited, have been temporarily released on bail pending appeal after receiving lengthy prison sentences in a corruption case.
A total of six individuals, comprising former Thai land officials and prominent figures from Thai Nox Stainless Public Company Limited, have been released on bail temporarily, pending the outcome of their appeals against lengthy prison sentences handed down in a corruption case.
The case initially involved 11 defendants, with the focus shifting to nine individuals who received custodial sentences after two corporate entities were factored out.
However, one Thai and one foreign defendant failed to attend the verdict hearing, resulting in arrest warrants being issued and the forfeiture of their bail, leaving seven individuals to face imprisonment.
Among those granted bail are a former Land Officer for Nakhon Ratchasima Province, who received a 42-year prison sentence, a former Level 7 Survey Technician sentenced to 30 years, and several executives from Thai Nox Stainless Public Company Limited, including a French national and authorised director, who was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
The individuals released on bail include KRISANAPONG PUSAKULSATHAPORN, THIAMSAK JINDA, PRATEEP SAWAENGLAP, JEAN-PAUL TAVERNIER, USANA MAHAGITSIRI, and PRAYUDH MAHAGITSIRI, who received prison sentences ranging from 12 to 42 years.
The appeals process is currently underway for the six individuals.
