Stable diplomatic ties expected despite US presidential election outcomes
Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa confirmed that Thailand's relationship with the United States remains resilient regardless of the US presidential election results.
Speaking in Bangkok, Maris highlighted that the diplomatic ties between the two nations are deep-rooted and will not be affected by changes in US leadership.
He emphasized Thailand's commitment to balanced international partnerships under Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra's administration.
US Ambassador Robert F. Godec also assured that the bilateral relationship would remain unchanged, citing a 190-year diplomatic history emphasizing trade, security, and cultural exchanges.
Despite election rhetoric, any shift in US policies may impact, but not alter, the strength of the partnership with Thailand.
The People's Party spokesman Parit Wacharasindhu noted possible implications of a Trump presidency, suggesting that US-China tensions could offer both challenges and opportunities for Thailand.
The focus on climate resilience remains urgent amid global climate challenges.
