Thailand and Germany Discuss Strengthening Relations Towards Strategic Partnership
Thailand and Germany are discussing enhancing their relationship into a strategic partnership.
Thai Prime Minister promoted cultural diplomacy by wearing a traditional Pha Khao Ma from Khon Kaen.
He suggested this upgrade in ties during the Thai-German Joint Economic Committee’s meetings.
In Germany, the Prime Minister met with leading companies, advocating for German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to explore business opportunities in Thailand.
The country is also seeking Germany’s support for a free trade agreement with the European Union, aiming to boost trade and investments. The German Chancellor welcomed this initiative.
Thailand emphasized its commitment to sustainable development, proposing incentives for electric vehicle (EV) production to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions next year.
The German Chancellor showed interest in collaborating on Thailand's shift to EVs, including in R&D and technical areas.
The Thai leader guaranteed the protection of German investments in Thailand's traditional automotive industry and invited Germany to engage in Thailand’s infrastructural ambitions, like the Land Bridge Megaproject.
He also pushed for Thailand's inclusion in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, increased people-to-people exchanges, and a visa exemption for Thai citizens visiting Schengen countries.
