Thailand Confirms Stable Fuel Supply as Prime Minister Moves to Reassure Public
Government stresses strong reserves and coordinated energy strategy amid global oil uncertainty and regional pressures
Thailand’s prime minister has firmly reassured the public that the country is not facing a fuel shortage, emphasizing strong national reserves and coordinated government action to maintain energy stability despite global disruptions.
Speaking during high-level briefings on the evolving international energy situation, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul underscored that Thailand’s fuel supply remains secure, with major oil producers and distributors confirming there are no signs of depletion.
Officials said the country holds substantial reserves—approaching or exceeding three months of supply—providing a robust buffer against external shocks.
The assurance comes amid heightened concern across Asia following instability in global energy markets, particularly linked to tensions affecting key oil transit routes.
While some localised disruptions at petrol stations have been reported, authorities clarified these were caused by distribution bottlenecks and surges in demand rather than any underlying shortage.
Government agencies have moved swiftly to stabilise the situation, coordinating with refineries and energy companies to ensure uninterrupted production and delivery.
Thailand’s refining capacity remains fully operational, and additional shipments of crude oil have been secured to reinforce supply continuity.
The prime minister also addressed public anxiety fueled by misinformation, urging citizens not to engage in panic buying and stressing that normal consumption patterns can be maintained.
At the same time, he encouraged energy conservation as a precautionary measure, noting that responsible usage would further strengthen national resilience.
In a proactive step to safeguard domestic supply, authorities have taken measures to limit exports of certain fuel products and diversify sourcing channels.
These actions are designed to ensure that domestic demand remains fully met even if global conditions deteriorate.
Thailand’s approach reflects a broader strategy of balancing market stability with preparedness, combining strong reserves, diversified imports, and close coordination between public and private sectors.
Officials maintain that the country’s energy security remains among the strongest in the region.
As global uncertainty continues, the government signalled it will remain vigilant and ready to introduce additional measures if required, while maintaining confidence that Thailand’s fuel system is well-positioned to meet national needs.
