Thailand Implements Visa-Free Entry for 93 Countries
Starting Monday, visitors from 93 countries can enter Thailand without a visa, staying for up to 60 days. This new policy aims to boost the economy and tourism post-pandemic, expanding the visa-free scheme from 57 to 93 countries. Additionally, there are plans to broaden the visas on arrival scheme and introduce a new visa for digital nomads and freelancers.
As of Monday, visitors from 93 countries and territories can enter Thailand without a visa, based on a new policy recently enacted.
The list was published in the Royal Gazette and allows passport holders from these nations to stay for up to 60 days, with the possibility of a 30-day extension.
This initiative follows directives signed by Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.
The visa-free scheme, previously limited to 57 countries, aims to rejuvenate Thailand's economy and tourism industry, which were severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The list of eligible countries was also shared on the @thailandinISR account of the Thai embassy in Israel.
Additionally, the government is promoting a policy to expand the number of countries eligible for visas on arrival from 19 to 31 and introducing the Destination Thailand Visa, aimed at digital nomads and freelancers, valid for five years with a 180-day annual stay limit.
