Thailand Launches ‘Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025’ with Over Forty Thousand International Runners
Tourism and sports authorities announce race set for November 30 in Bangkok aiming to elevate Thailand’s sports-tourism profile
Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports today announced that the 8th edition of the “Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok Presented by Toyota” will take place on Sunday, 30 November 2025, with more than 48,000 runners expected to participate from across the globe.
The event was unveiled at a press conference in Bangkok attended by senior officials, including the Minister of Tourism and Sports and the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The marathon will be organised by the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Tourism Authority of Thailand in partnership with World Athletics and professional race director Thailand TriLeague.
Officials affirmed the ambition to transform the race into a “world-class marathon” by 2027 through enhanced infrastructure, global outreach and elite athlete engagement.
The route will traverse central Bangkok, beginning at MBK Centre for the full and half marathon distances and finishing near the historic Royal Grand Palace, passing iconic landmarks such as Victory Monument and the Golden Mountain temple.
Alongside the full 42.195 km event, there will be a half marathon, 10 km run and a 4.5 km family fun run, under wholly closed roads to facilitate a smooth and scenic experience.
Registered entries have reportedly sold out across all categories.
The Tourism Minister emphasised the government’s full support for the marathon and called on the public and media to rally behind the event, which is framed as a key driver for sports tourism in Thailand.
The Sports Authority of Thailand has also announced collaborations over the next three years with elite athletes and the NN Running Team to host clinics and workshops under World Athletics’ guidance.
With Bangkok already ranked among the world’s most visited cities, organisers say the marathon offers an ideal platform to merge athletic challenge with cultural immersion.
International registrations from elite runners and recreational participants alike are being prioritised.
The event is expected to generate significant economic impact, drawing hotels, sponsors and visitors during the race weekend.
