Thailand Launches ODOS Summer Camp to Enhance Digital Skills Among Youth
The initiative aims to equip students across the nation with essential digital skills and international study experience.
The Thai government has announced the opening of the ODOS Summer Camp, designed to support the country's digital transition by providing students with opportunities to enhance their digital skills and gain international learning experiences.
Registration for the program is facilitated through the 'Thang Rath' app, with the selection process to include an English proficiency test, a digital skills test, an interview, and assignments related to various countries.
Successful candidates will be announced by August.
Digital Economy and Society Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong indicated that the summer camp is accessible to students from 878 districts nationwide, alongside 50 districts in Bangkok.
The program is aimed at helping participants develop valuable digital skills necessary for future career planning.
He emphasized that the initiative would prepare students to meet the demands of an increasingly digital job market through collaboration with leading technology companies.
Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, the president of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), disclosed that a total of 928 scholarships will be awarded across Thailand to support this initiative.
DEPA will also provide dedicated mentorship, with one mentor assigned for every 50 students, to guide them during study trips to various countries.
Participating countries include the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and India.
Additionally, a financial incentive for parents has been introduced, allowing them to deduct 100% of their expenses related to the camp from their personal income taxes, thereby reducing the financial burden associated with this educational opportunity.
