Two Alleged Yakuza Members Arrested for Abduction and Extortion in Thailand
Japanese Nationals Accused of Assault and Extortion at Chon Buri Resort
Two Japanese men, Niki Fuku, 45, and Tomiki Asai, 26, have been arrested at a resort in Chon Buri, Thailand, for allegedly abducting and extorting a fellow Japanese national.
The suspects, thought to be affiliated with the yakuza, reportedly assaulted the victim, demanded 300,000 baht, and forced him to eat faeces.
The victim managed to contact the Japanese embassy, leading to his rescue.
A Thai man, identified only as Pao, was also involved and has been apprehended.
Police discovered the suspects hiding in resort rooms in Chon Buri, aided by the smell of cannabis smoke.
In Mr. Fuku's room, investigators found cannabis and 130,000 baht.
Mr. Fuku, linked to cannabis offenses in Japan, claimed innocence, stating he relocated to Thailand for business.
Both suspects denied yakuza affiliations, although they operated a marijuana shop and logistics firm.
The cases have cast a shadow on Thailand's tourism industry, prompting further investigation into their activities.
