BDMS Leads Thai Healthcare Revolution with 1.5 Billion Baht AI Investment: Enhancing Diagnosis and Patient Care
BDMS, a healthcare provider in Thailand, is leading the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology with a multi-billion baht investment.
They have invested 1.5 billion baht over the past few years and have incorporated AI into their medical practices since April 2023.
One of the ventures they support is CARIVA, which offers personalised and precision healthcare through AI, including AI interpretation of lab tests, genomics, and disease diagnosis.
Approximately 10,000 cases have benefited from AI-driven solutions under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
Dr. Suttisak Denduangchai, an occupational physicist at Bangkok Hospital, praised the efficiency of AI in medical decision-making.
He uses the CARIVA AI system for lab results analysis and found it to be accurate in identifying problems.
AI is also beneficial in patient transfers, facilitating communication between hospitals and aiding in decision making.
BDMS focuses on AI products for disease diagnosis, speeding up the process, and ensuring accuracy.
Their offerings include AI-powered comprehensive lab interpretation and genomic analysis for precise results in a short time.
Siwadon Matayakun of CARVA mentioned that the accuracy rate of AI solutions in healthcare ranges from 92 to 97%.
Dr. Olarik Musigavong, a consultant with Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital and Thai Health Tech Association, explained that AI is being used as a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) to help inexperienced doctors make precise decisions and detect abnormalities in the body.
The seminar "AI Revolution 2024: Transforming Thailand's Economy" held on March 22 at the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok also featured Dr. Patcharin reaffirming BDMS's commitment to sustainable healthcare through smart technology, efficient intra-hospital operations, and increased patient accessibility.
In Thailand, where there is a shortage of doctors with an average of 0.8 doctors per 1,000 individuals, AI technology can help reduce the workload of healthcare professionals.
By automating initial information processing, doctors can focus on complex analyses, according to Dr. Patcharin.
Integrating AI technology into healthcare should not increase costs for patients in the long run, as it saves labor and time, leading to better care without inflating expenses.
BDMS has launched a teleconsulting application named Bedee.
This app offers free consultations with pharmacists, nurses, and specialists.
It also includes an online medical shop and mental health chatbots.
The goal is to promote self-care and increase healthcare accessibility.
