Prosecutors have formally charged Tyler Robinson, aged twenty-two, with multiple crimes including aggravated murder in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

Robinson faces counts of felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and other enhancements.

Officials say the state will seek the death penalty.

According to the indictment, Robinson fired a single rifle shot from a rooftop sniper position, striking Kirk in the neck on September tenth.

Investigators report Robinson’s DNA was found on the trigger of the rifle.

He allegedly instructed his roommate to delete incriminating messages and remain silent if questioned by law enforcement.

Robinson was arrested in St. George, Utah, after being identified from surveillance footage and confessing to a family member who recognized him.

He previously had no criminal record and was registered to vote as unaffiliated.

Authorities allege that the killing was politically motivated, noting that children were present at the event and that Robinson targeted Kirk for his political speech.

Investigators are also reviewing Robinson’s online activity, social media communications, and associations for further evidence.

Kirk, aged thirty-one, was speaking at a public event on September tenth when he was shot.

His death has drawn national attention to political violence, with leaders from across the political spectrum condemning the act.

Prosecutors will consider the family’s wishes as they proceed with the possible death penalty, under Utah law.
