Heavy Downpours Persist in Northern and Upper Northeast Thailand
Thailand's North and upper Northeast are experiencing heavy downpours influenced by the weakened typhoon Yagi. Downgraded to a tropical storm in Vietnam and moving westward, it has caused heavy rain and windstorms. Small boats are advised to avoid leaving shore due to a strong monsoon affecting parts of the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.
Weather forecasters predict ongoing heavy downpours in Thailand's North and upper Northeast regions due to the influence of former typhoon Yagi.
Yagi was downgraded to a tropical storm in Vietnam at 7am on Sunday morning, moving westward and eventually weakening into a depression and then a low-pressure area, according to the Meteorological Department.
This will continue to bring heavy rain and windstorms to these areas.
Additionally, a strong monsoon over the upper Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the upper Gulf of Thailand will cause heavy rains in the East and on the western coast of the South.
The Meteorological Department has advised small boats to avoid leaving shore in the affected regions on Sunday.
