Hyundai Announces THB1 Billion Investment in Thailand for EV Production
Hyundai Motor plans to invest one billion baht to manufacture electric vehicles in Thailand, starting in early 2026. Assembly will be managed by Thonburi Automotive Assembly, in line with Thailand's EV3.5 policy. The investment aims to establish EV and battery production facilities in the country.
South Korean auto manufacturer Hyundai Motor plans to invest one billion baht in Thailand to manufacture electric vehicles (EVs) under the Ioniq brand.
Hyundai received investment promotion approval from Thailand's Board of Investment and will begin production in early 2026.
The assembly will be handled by Thonburi Automotive Assembly, a long-time partner.
Hyundai Mobility Manufacturing (Thailand) Co Ltd will use the investment to establish EV and battery production facilities, aligning with Thailand's EV3.5 policy aimed at supporting the EV industry.
Jae Gyou Chung, CEO of Hyundai Mobility Manufacturing (Thailand), highlighted that Thailand is a strategic location for Hyundai in ASEAN.
The domestic partner, Thonburi Automotive Assembly Co Ltd, which also assembles Mercedes-Benz vehicles, previously assembled Hyundai's Sonata model 16 years ago.
