MG Sales (Thailand), a joint venture of MG, SAIC Motor-CP, continues to produce both internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and electric vehicles (EVs).
Mr. Pongsak Lertruedeewattanavong, vice-president, emphasized the importance of offering a diverse range of vehicles.
Originating in Oxford, England in 1924, MG has since been acquired by Chinese state-owned SAIC and partnered with Thailand's CP Group.
Despite incentives for EV production, MG will maintain ICE production, especially popular among pickup and agricultural vehicle users.
Though fully transitioning to battery EVs is challenging, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are seen as a bridge technology.
MG's factory in Chon Buri will continue to produce these different models, supporting Thailand’s ambitions to be a regional EV hub.
