TAT Amplifies Thailand’s Night-Time Tourism to Showcase Culture and Arts to the World
Tourism Authority of Thailand unveils strategic night economy push to broaden international appeal and deepen cultural engagement
Thailand’s Tourism Authority (TAT) is accelerating efforts to develop the country’s night-time tourism offerings as part of its broader strategy to elevate the nation’s global tourism appeal and support economic growth.
Under its 2026 framework, TAT is placing special emphasis on expanding the night economy, encouraging creative after-dark activities that blend entertainment, heritage and local arts to captivate both domestic and international travellers.
The authority’s plan positions night-time cultural experiences and events as core components of Thailand’s tourism identity, drawing visitors beyond traditional daytime attractions and spotlighting Thai arts, performances and community creativity into the evening hours.
Central to this initiative is the revival and extension of night markets, cultural festivals and community walking streets, which are being tailored to highlight local artistic traditions, street performance, food culture and immersive experiences that reflect Thailand’s rich and varied heritage.
In addition to established late-night attractions in major cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket, TAT is supporting niche events that appeal to specialised interest segments and sub-culture travellers, further differentiating Thailand’s tourism offerings on the world stage.
This shift forms part of a holistic strategy focused on quality and value, aiming to increase tourism revenue to three trillion baht by 2026 while fostering deeper cultural engagement and sustainable economic benefit for local communities.
By extending the visitor experience into the night with creative, culturally rooted programming, Thailand seeks to strengthen its reputation as a destination where authentic cultural expression and memorable travel experiences flourish after sunset.
