TAT Forecasts Revival in French Tourism Market Post-Olympics
The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects the French tourism market to bounce back after the Paris Olympics, forecasting 42 billion baht in revenue for 2024. Lower visitor numbers during the games were due to high costs and congestion, but TAT's 'Olympic Getaway' campaign has already sold 600 tour packages. With 380,013 French tourists visiting Thailand in the first half of 2024, the annual target of 661,000 is within reach, despite lower flight capacities.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) anticipates a resurgence in the French tourism market following the Paris Olympic Games.
Despite a slow period due to elections and the Olympics, TAT predicts post-event growth, estimating 42 billion baht in revenue from French tourists in 2024.
TAT Paris office director, Soraya Homchuen, noted that lower-than-expected visitor numbers during the Olympics were due to high expenses and crowded conditions in Paris.
However, TAT's 'Olympic Getaway' campaign, launched with Carrefour, sold roughly 600 tour packages, and another promotional event is planned.
In the first half of 2024, Thailand welcomed 380,013 French tourists, edging closer to the annual target of 661,000.
The average expenditure per French tourist is forecasted at 65,008 baht.
While airfares are decreasing, a concern remains about seat capacity as flights between Thailand and France have only partially recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
