Thailand Secures Four Gold Medals on the Opening Day
Thai bodybuilders achieved remarkable success by winning four gold, five silver, and two bronze medals at the 15th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships.
The event, running until November 11, is being held at Canareef Resort in the Maldives.
On the opening day, ten Thai athletes competed in 19 categories.
Jiraphan Pongkham, a previous SEA Games gold medalist, won Thailand's first gold in the men's under-60kg class.
Surasak Panreung secured a gold in the men's master class (age 40-49, under-80kg), while Kanticha Sichan claimed two gold medals in the women's fitness under-21 and open classes.
Somid Sumethowechakul earned a silver in the master's (age 50-59, under-80kg) and a bronze in the men's under-70kg.
Wanchai Kanjanaphimai took the silver in men’s fitness under-170cm.
Jintramont Thaweemetheechote and Siriporn Sornchuay secured a silver and bronze in the women’s fitness under-165cm, with Jintramont also winning another silver in the women’s under-21 years.
Jiratha Juthanichkant added another silver in the women’s under-55kg category.
On Saturday, twelve more Thai athletes are set to compete.
