Thailand Launches Cultural Campaign to Promote BL-GL Content in Latin America
Thai Actors and Producers Head to Brazil to Expand Y Series Fan Base and Strengthen Economic Ties
Thailand has initiated a campaign titled 'Ola BL & GL Thailand in Brazil' aimed at promoting Boy's Love-Girl's Love (BL-GL) content in the Latin American market, with the objective of fostering cultural and economic ties.
The campaign is a collaboration between Thailand's Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) and the Thai Association of Boy's Love Content.
As part of this initiative, eight actors and actresses from BL and GL series, along with leading Y series producers, are set to visit Sao Paolo, Brazil.
The visit, scheduled from January 29 to February 3, 2025, will include fan meeting activities and the pursuit of business opportunities aimed at extending the presence of Thai Y series in the region.
Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister of the MFA, stated that the campaign is expected to enhance the popularity of Thai cultural content in Latin America, thereby increasing the economic value of Thai products.
This effort forms part of a broader governmental strategy to utilise soft power assets for economic development by targeting international markets with substantial growth prospects.
The initiative also coincides with the upcoming enactment of Thailand's Marriage Equality Bill on January 23, 2025, underscoring Thailand's role in promoting social inclusivity and equality.
According to Jalichandra, the campaign's cultural exchange component is designed to deepen ties between Thailand and the global community.
Notably, the focus on BL-GL content reflects Thailand's progressive stance on issues of inclusivity and diversity, offering an opportunity to engage with global audiences who value these principles.
Overall, the 'Ola BL & GL Thailand in Brazil' campaign represents a strategic move to reinforce cultural diplomacy and strengthen economic and social links between Thailand and Latin American regions, highlighting Thailand's commitment to fostering global relationships through culture and partnership.
