Thailand's Commerce Ministry to Address Influx of Chinese Products
Thailand's Commerce Ministry is taking steps to manage the influx of Chinese products, focusing on enforcing safety standards and fair competition. Minister Pichai Naripthaphan announced measures including stricter laws related to taxes and product certifications. The Chinese Embassy highlighted that most exports to Thailand are essential goods, with a commitment to improving cooperation in e-commerce and product safety.
Thailand's Commerce Ministry has committed to tackling the issue of Chinese products flooding the market, with Minister Pichai Naripthaphan stressing the need for stringent enforcement of safety standards and fair competition regulations.
To address public concerns over high costs and substandard goods, the government plans to enforce laws more strictly, including those related to taxes and product certifications from organisations like the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Chinese Embassy emphasized that the majority of Chinese exports to Thailand are essential for local manufacturing and exports, with less than 10% being daily consumer goods.
Both governments are committed to strengthening cooperation in managing cross-border e-commerce and ensuring product quality and safety.
