Thailand's drone industry is on track for significant expansion, as the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) announces a comprehensive master plan.
According to CAAT director Sutthiphong Khongpool, drones will soon be as ubiquitous as mobile phones, with current estimates expecting 130,000 registered drones by the end of this month and a million within the next decade.
Drones are already widely utilized in Thailand for tasks such as surveying, aerial mapping, agriculture, filmmaking, rescue operations, and security.
The Drone Master Plan developed by CAAT, in collaboration with various sectors, addresses key areas such as policy-making, legislation, workforce training, safety, and infrastructure development to support this rapid expansion.
