Paralympic taekwondo star Khwansuda 'Khwan' Phuangkitcha secured Thailand’s first medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics by clinching a bronze in the women's 47-kilogramme (K44) category.
Khwansuda defeated Maryam Abdollahpour Deroei of Iran in a tightly fought bout with a 4-4 tie that moved to a golden round, where superior points and techniques secured her victory.
Khwansuda, who is ranked World No.3 at just 23 years old, expressed her gratitude and hopes to come back stronger in four years to win gold.
The Prachuap Khiri Khan native previously defeated Nurcihan Ekinci of Turkey before losing to Uzbekistan's Ziyodakhon Isakova, setting her up for the bronze.
