On October 1, 2024, a devastating fire broke out on a bus carrying 38 students and six teachers on a field trip from Uthai Thani, resulting in the deaths of 20 students and three teachers.
The incident occurred on the highway in the Rangsit area of Pathum Thani.
Sixteen others, including three teachers, were hospitalized, with some in critical condition.
The driver, Samarn Chankut, fled the scene but later surrendered to police in Ang Thong and is now in custody at Khu Khot police station.
The initial investigation revealed a blown-out front left tire leading the bus to crash and catch fire.

The bus was part of a three-bus convoy headed to an educational exhibit in Nonthaburi and belonged to Chinnaboot Tour from Sing Buri.
