Commercial Service Begins for Extended Pink Line in Muang Thong Thani
New extension includes two stations, connecting to Thailand's overarching Pink Line transit system.
The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) announced the commencement of commercial operations for the 3-kilometre extension of the Pink Line in Muang Thong Thani on Tuesday.
This extension features two new stations: Impact Thani station (MT01) and Muang Thong Thani Lake station (MT02), which connect to the existing Pink Line that spans 34.5 kilometres and includes 30 stations from Rattanathibet Road, adjacent to the Nonthaburi Government Complex, to Min Buri station located on Ramkhamhaeng Road in Bangkok’s Min Buri district.
Prior to this launch, the Muang Thong Thani extension was in a free trial period from May 20 to June 16.
With the launch of paid services on Tuesday, passenger fares for these two new stations start at 15 baht, with a maximum fare of 45 baht based on the distance traveled along the main line.
Regular services for the Pink Line extension operate daily from 6 AM to midnight.
During weekdays, trains are scheduled to run every five minutes during peak hours, specifically from 7 AM to 8 AM and 5 PM to 6 PM.
In contrast, off-peak hours see trains arriving every ten minutes.
On weekends, the service frequency is maintained at ten minutes throughout the day from 6 AM to midnight.
