Emergency Rescue Operation Saves Tourists from Leaking Speedboat in Krabi
28 tourists safely retrieved by rescue teams from the Andaman Sea after a speedboat encountered mechanical issues.
On March 11, 2025, 28 tourists were successfully rescued from the Siriwan Marine 5 speedboat, which was experiencing severe leaking issues while traveling from Koh Lipe to Phuket.
The incident occurred off the mainland of Krabi province in the Andaman Sea, where the boat began taking on water due to choppy wave conditions.
The Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park responded promptly by dispatching a patrol boat along with the Nanthicha 333 speedboat to assist the stranded tourists.
The National Park authorities reported that the boat's hull was compromised, which complicated the skipper's ability to navigate toward the Koh Phi Phi islands as they continued to encounter turbulent seas.
The tourists, whose nationalities remain unidentified, were initially on their return trip from Koh Lipe in Satun province when the incident occurred.
While awaiting a replacement vessel, the rescued group was temporarily taken to Maya Bay for safety.
The swift response by the national park rescue teams ensured that all individuals were brought to safety without reported injuries.
