Earlier this week, Fortune launched its first-ever Southeast Asia 500 rankings for the fiscal year 2023.
The list features over 100 Thai companies, six of which are in the top 20, underscoring Southeast Asia's growing importance in the global economy.
The rankings include companies from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Cambodia.
Indonesia leads with 110 companies, followed closely by Thailand with 107.
Trafigura, based in Singapore, tops the list with revenues of two hundred forty-four billion dollars.
Other top companies include Thailand’s PTT, Indonesia’s Pertamina, and Singapore’s Wilmar.
In total, the top 10 companies earned 650 billion dollars, a significant portion of the 1.8 trillion dollars generated by all 500 companies on the list.
The list also showcases the growth of industries such as banking, with nine banks among the top 20 most profitable companies.
Despite a decline in overall revenues and profits, sectors like airlines and energy saw notable growth.
Clay Chandler, Fortune Asia's Executive Editor, emphasized the dynamic nature of Southeast Asia's economies, driven by global supply chain shifts.
Additionally, the rankings highlight a trend towards younger and more diverse leadership, with 30 female CEOs and chairmen and 16 executives under 40.
