Government Allocates Financial Aid to Flood Victims in Chiang Rai

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra chaired a relief meeting at Mae Fa Luang-Chiang Rai International Airport.
The Interior Ministry spokesperson, Traisulee Taisaranakul, confirmed the cabinet's budget approval of 3.04 billion baht on September 17 for nationwide flood relief.
On Friday, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation transferred funds to 3,623 households: 3,305 in Muang district, 222 in Mae Sai, and 96 in Khun Tan.
Households flooded for no more than 30 days received 5,000 baht, those inundated for 30-60 days received 7,000 baht, and those flooded for over 60 days received 9,000 baht.
Meanwhile, runoff caused additional flooding at Chiang Mai University, worsening city conditions even as the Ping River level remained stable.
Roads on campus were closed, and staff and students were urged to move vehicles to higher ground.
The Office of the National Water Resources has warned of potential flooding due to continuous rainfall and high tides in Bangkok and five other provinces until October 2.
Increased water outflow at the Chao Phraya Dam will raise river levels downstream by about 30 cm.
