Haier Enters Thailand's Laundry Industry with Otteri Franchise Expansion

Haier Enters Thailand's Laundry Industry with Otteri Franchise Expansion

Haier aims to distribute industrial washing machines across 230 locations in Thailand as part of its strategic partnership with K-Next Corporation.
Haier, a global leader in home appliances, is expanding its market share in Thailand's burgeoning laundry industry, valued at approximately 16 billion baht (around $470 million).

The company plans to introduce its industrial washing machines to Otteri, a chain of self-service laundromats, with the aim of establishing 230 branches across Thailand by 2025, as well as 20 locations in Cambodia and 2 in Laos.

During an announcement, Dong Jianping, the CEO of Haier Electrical Appliances (Thailand) Co., disclosed that the global self-service laundry market is projected to reach $22.3 billion, with an average growth rate of 9.4% per annum through 2028. The trend in Thailand reflects a similarly optimistic growth trajectory over the past few years, emphasizing the shift towards convenience in consumer lifestyles.

The Thai self-service laundry franchise market is currently experiencing robust growth of approximately 20-30% annually.

Key factors contributing to this expansion include urbanization and the modern consumer’s demand for time-saving services.

To enhance its business and reinforce its position as a leading global appliance manufacturer, Haier has established a strategic partnership with K-Next Corporation, which manages the Otteri Wash & Dry brand.

This partnership currently operates 1,250 branches nationwide, with a user base exceeding 1 million.

The new introduction of Haier’s industrial washers marks the first instance of such machines being used in Thailand's self-service laundry sector.

The industrial washing machines being deployed at Otteri Wash & Dry include two models: the WHPL9FV0124P with a capacity of 10 kilograms and the WHPL15FV0124P with a capacity of 15 kilograms.

These machines are characterized by their durability, expected to last over 15 years, and equipped with advanced technology aimed at increasing profitability for business owners.

The high spin speed of 500G (Gravity Force) is designed to significantly reduce drying time.

Features that conserve water and energy contribute to lower operational costs for franchisees, promoting eco-friendliness while providing a comprehensive solution in a single machine.

This innovation underlines Haier’s commitment to enhancing business opportunities for investors in the laundry sector.

Haier’s strategic vision emphasizes the creation of more innovation within the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem, addressing the diverse needs of consumers across generations and lifestyles.

The company anticipates that the two industrial washing machine models will significantly improve user satisfaction and quality of life.

Plans are in place for deployment in an additional 230 Otteri branches in Thailand, alongside expansions to Cambodia and Laos by 2025.

Kawin Nithatsanjarukul, President of K-Next Corporation, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Haier, describing it as a pivotal step for the development and growth of the self-service laundry business in Thailand.

The collaboration is expected to enhance customer satisfaction by integrating high-quality washing machines from Haier into the Otteri Wash & Dry brand, which will begin roll-out in 2025, with plans for further expansion throughout Bangkok and the surrounding regions.
